The announcement of an award for law students in the GCC region:
The Be-Free program and the "Protect Children Now" initiative announced an award for law students in the GCC region. The students were requested to prepare a law model for child protection that is applicable to the GCC. The goal of the contest was to encourage students to specialize in children’s rights.
The UNICEF Regional Media Award 2012 on “The Rights of the Child”:
The Be-Free program won the UNICEF Regional Media Award 2012 on “The Rights of the Child” that was announced in Egypt; Cairo at the UNICEF’s Sixth Regional Conference on the Rights of the Child. The program participated with a series of short movie clips titled is “Mom ... Dad ... I deserve love .... let us share it with each other" . The movie clips discussed the impact of emotional abuse on children.
The publishing of the book "I am a Strong, Smart and Safe Youngster on the Internet”:
Publishing of the book "I am a Strong, Smart and Safe Youngster on the Internet” that addresses protection skills on the Internet for middle school and high school youth. The book is a product of the “More than Smart” program that is designed to promote youth and child protection on the internet.
The launch of a specialized training manual on protection skills on the internet:
The launch of a training manual to be used by trainers to deliver basic protection skills on the Internet in a fun way that is far from intimidation. The mentioned training manual is a product of the "More than Smart" program that is designed to promote youth and child protection on the internet.
The establishment of the Be-Free club in collaboration with the Polytechnic College- Bahrain:
The Be-Free program established the “Be-Free club” in collaboration with the Polytechnic College; Bahrain. The club aims at helping students better communicate with themselves, discover their capabilities, hone their personalities and take control of their lives. The club is also a platform for students to help empower their peers.
The launch of a Code of Ethics for the Protection of Children from Abuse:
The launch of a code of ethics for the protection of children from abuse that contains provisions to help institutions and organizations in various sectors develop laws and policies to protect children. The code covers the following sectors: the media, the parliament, non-governmental organizations, the police, judges, religious scholars, Internet service providers, the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The notion of the code of ethics came to life in the International Conference organized by Be-Free on "Effective Strategies to Protect Children from Abuse and Trafficking on the Internet" which was held in Bahrain from May 9 to 10, 2009. It is noteworthy to state that a group of specialists from different sectors and countries participated in the preparation of this code.
The signing of a memorandum of understanding with the Gulf Disability Society:
The Be-Free program signed a memorandum of understanding with the Gulf Disability Society, to publish and disseminate information related to disability, develop joint programs and conduct specialized workshops in the field of protection of children with disabilities both in Bahrain and in the GCC region. Among its other intents; the signed memorandum of understanding contributes to spreading awareness on protection skills for disabled children and their parents.
The launch of four training manuals aimed at professionals working with disabled children:
The Be-Free program launched four training manuals aimed at professionals working with disabled children and youth. The launch of the manuals took place on the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. The mentioned training manuals were the fruit of five years of comprehensive studies and extensive research in the field of the protection of disabled youth and children.
The translation of all published materials into English:
The Be-Free program commenced the translation of all its published materials including the specialized training manuals, books, booklets and articles into English. The program aims at making the knowledge available to the widest possible segment.
